What is the New Student Survey?

Each fall, all new UC Merced undergraduate students are invited to take the New Student Survey to provide feedback that will help us improve the undergraduate academic and campus life experience for new students. The questions on the survey will cover topics such as:

  • The campus resources you’ve used and activities you’ve participated in, as well as how helpful you’ve found them for your transition to UC Merced.
  • Your educational goals and beliefs about your academic success.
  • The activities you engage in to help you be a successful student.
  • The things you believe are obstacles to your school work or academic success.

Who can take this survey?

All undergraduate students who will be attending UC Merced for the first time in the current fall semester. When you begin the survey you will need to provide your official UC Merced NetID and password to log in, this will confirm that you are indeed eligible to take the survey. Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary.

How long will the survey take and when can I complete it?

This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. In Fall 2023, students may access the survey beginning October 22nd, and it must be completed by November 21st. If you previously started the survey with cookies enabled on your computer and are returning to complete it, you will be able to continue from where you left off.

How will I be rewarded for my participation in this survey?

While we do not offer a monetary reward for the completion of this survey, know that your feedback is greatly appreciated! Each year, the results collected from the New Student Survey are shared with faculty and staff across campus.
