Frequently Asked Questions

If you are a student interested in taking the New Student Survey, answers to frequently asked questions are below.

What is the New Student Survey?

Each fall, all new UC Merced undergraduate students are invited to take the New Student Survey to provide feedback that will help us improve the undergraduate academic and campus life experience for new students.

The questions on the survey cover topics such as:

  • The campus resources you've used and activities you've participated in, as well as how helpful you've found them for your transition to UC Merced.
  • Your educational goals and beliefs about your academic success.
  • The activities you engage in to help you be a successful student.
  • The things you believe are obstacles to your school work or academic success.

Who can take this survey?

New undergraduate students attending UC Merced for the first time this fall are eligible. Log in with your UC Merced NetID and password to verify eligibility. Participation is voluntary.

How long will the survey take and when can I complete it?

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and is available beginning November 2nd.

If you previously started the survey with cookies enabled on your computer and are returning to complete it, you will be able to continue from where you left off.

How will I be rewarded for my participation in this survey?

There is no monetary reward for completing the New Student Survey.

Your feedback helps improve access to student resources, shape new activities and events, and identify hurdles that can make the transition to college more difficult.
