The 2019 and 2021 Staff Engagement Surveys identified key strengths to build on and priority areas for improvement, including:
-
Supporting employee well-being
-
Providing clearer career development resources
-
Fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and psychological safety
-
Strengthening connection with leadership
In response to this feedback, we’ve taken meaningful action across campus:

-
Introduced Peak Pioneers and Leadership Now leadership programs
-
Expanded career tools and resources through My UC Career
-
Professional development programming like Career Development Connections Series, Bobcat Basics, and New Beginnings onboarding
Employee Support & Engagement
-
Staff Assembly Development Fund and co-sponsorship opportunities to support professional growth and engagement
Campus Climate & Well-Being
-
Choose Civility & Hospitable Work Environment workshops were offered between (2019-2023) to promote respectful and inclusive workplaces
-
Establishment of the EJIE Division to advance equity, justice, inclusion, and engagement efforts
These efforts demonstrate our commitment to using survey results in meaningful ways, and we fully intend to take thoughtful, actionable steps based on the 2026 Campus Work Experience Survey.
