Initial Overview of Faculty Results: 2026 Campus Work Experience Survey

Thank you to the 41% of faculty who participated in the 2026 Campus Work Experience Survey. Your engagement provides important insight into faculty work life at UC Merced.

Results highlight several areas of strength. Faculty reported strong collegial norms, including high levels of cross‑role respect and mentorship, as well as a clear willingness to go above and beyond in support of colleagues and the institution. These strengths are complemented by encouraging levels of work engagement, voice, and organizational commitment, reflecting a faculty deeply invested in its work and community.

At the same time, the findings surface clear opportunities for improvement. Faculty reported high role overload alongside moderate levels of burnout, suggesting concerns about workload sustainability. Lower ratings related to communication, fairness, strategic goal alignment, and shared governance point to the need to ask more questions and continue important conversations and discovery so we can identify pathways to improvement serving all of us.

These results will be discussed in Senate forums, a campus Town Hall, and with the Leadership Council, with a shared focus on identifying concrete, actionable next steps. Initial followup actions are expected to begin in summer and fall 2026.

A full interactive dashboard will be available soon. Thank you for sharing your perspectives—faculty voice is central to shaping what comes next.
